Homework Room
Our top priority at Shepherd’s Gate is to ensure that each child completes their homework every day. While we do not offer one-on-one tutoring, our counselors are dedicated to assisting each child in understanding their assignments, helping them complete their homework with the best possible chance of success.
“Lambs Corner” Children’s Animal Farm
Lambs Corner provides the ability for students to visit Thera Farms, a family-run organic farm located on the same Sisters of St Joseph grounds as Shepherd's Gate. Students are able to apply areas of learning such as classroom science, social and emotional education, and literacy, in a safe environment.
Experiences in Science
Lambs Corner will give children many opportunities to experience science through nature, such as basic animal interaction and understanding and practicing basics in horticulture. Head counselors will also plan fun and engaging activities that will bring out the scientist in children through rocket building and experimentation, volcano projects, basic robotics, and many other areas of science that are age appropriate to each group.
Sports and Recreation
Shepherd’s Gate features over 200 acres of property, including a baseball field, playgrounds, and expansive open spaces for a variety of activities. Children can engage in sports such as soccer, football, volleyball, bike-riding, and more, as well as other traditional and non-traditional sports.
Additionally, children have access to a full-size gymnasium daily for indoor activities, ensuring that physical exercise continues, even in inclement weather.
All sports and recreational activities are designed to promote good health, develop positive interpersonal skills, and provide opportunities for children to learn teamwork and leadership.
The Arts
Children often have known interests and many more they have yet to discover. At Shepherd’s Gate, we aim to introduce them to a broad range of artistic experiences. Our program includes dance, choir, instrument lessons, theatre, sculpting, painting, and other artistic disciplines. Not only will children have the chance to explore and enjoy these art forms, but they will also be able to showcase their talents in our various shows throughout the year.
Monthly Themes
The After-School program will feature a program-wide theme each month, such as multicultural appreciation, science, going green, the Olympics, Talent showcase, and more.
